AUMF: Authorization for Use of Military Force For Grandparents

This message is for American grandparents and the topic is:

AUMF: AUMF 2001: Public Law 107-40:

We invite you to join the leaderless and loose-knit bipartisan/nonpartisan coalition of Democratic, Republican, third-party, independent, apolitical and even anti-political American citizens rallying behind “H.R. 198: Repeal of the Authorization for Use of Military Force”, a bill now before the United States Congress which will hobble the Imperial Presidency created under Dubya and Darth by the post 9/11 AUMF, the USA Patriot Act, the REAL ID Act and hundreds of Executive Orders and National Security Letters … expanded under Odrona the Indefinite Detainer by NDAA 2012, H.R. 347 and H.R. 658 plus hundreds more Executive Orders and National Security Letters … and culminating in the creation of a vast Military/Intelligence/HomelandSecurity/CounterTerrorism Industrial Complex that operates above and outside of the law, unaccountable to the People, impenetrable by the Freedom of Information Act, and unanswerable to our courts.

The Imperial Presidency headed by corporate fascist puppet Barack Obama claims the right under NDAA 2012 to indefinitely detain American citizens on American soil without charge or trial, and the right under AUMF 2001 to kill those same American citizens with domestic drone strikes and without due process of law. That means that either their targets or the collateral damage from their attacks could include you, your children or your grandchildren.

Your innocent grandchildren are probably too young and naive to fight for their freedom or protect themselves, and your children are probably too self-involved or techno-stupefied to recognize the threat to their lives and liberties. That leaves you, the grandparent, as their only hope for salvation.

The grandparents of America allowed all of this to happen. The grandparents of America cowered when they should have asked questions … allowed themselves to be distracted when they should have demanded answers … and sat back and watched television as our Constitution and Bill Of Rights were decimated, and our once-great Republic slid from Freedom to Fascism. The grandparents of America danced when they should have been demonstrating, and now it is time they pay the fiddler.

If you are an American grandparent above the age of 50, then you know what I say is true. And if you truly love your grandchildren, then you should know what you must do. If you are not sure where to begin, you can start here:

h.r. 198, repeal aumf, aumf, aumf 2001, p.l. 107-40, authorization for use of military force, imperial presidency, ndaa, ndaa 2012, indefinite detention, police state, drones, domestic drone strikes

Repeal AUMF Now! 16 Slides To Show You Why. 16 Steps To Tell You How.

Slide 1 of 16: On 9/14/2001 U.S. Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA) stood alone before Congress opposing AUMF. On 3/5/2013 U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) stood alone before the Senate trying to protect us from AUMF. It’s time they stand together to repeal AUMF!

Action Step 1 of 16: Call (202-225-2661) or fax (202-225-9817) U.S. Congresswoman Barbara Lee, the sponsor of “H.R. 198: Repeal of the Authorization for Use of Military Force.” Thank her for standing against AUMF on the floor of the House of Representatives, then remind her that Teddy Ky Nam Miller, her staffer responsible for the bill, was once an Obama Delegate Candidate. Ask her to verify that he has no conflicts of allegiance, and that his priorities are in order.

Slide 2 of 16: Pass H.R. 198 to repeal PL 107-40, the post 9/11 2001 Authorization to Use Force or “AUMF”, now before the murdered children declared “collateral damage” of a domestic drone strike are your very own kids.

Action Step 2 of 16: Call (202-224-4343) or fax (202-228-6917) U.S. Senator Rand Paul, the star of last week’s redux of “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.” Thank him for standing against the Imperial Presidency and domestic drone strikes allegedly justified by AUMF on the floor of Senate, then remind him that actions speak louder than words. Ask him to sponsor a companion bill for H.R. 198, or co-sponsor such a bill if another Senator sponsors one first.

Slide 3 of 16: Bring an end to the Imperial Presidency and reign in Odrona the Indefinite Detainer. AUMF 2001 is the sole basis for NDAA 2012 and domestic drone strikes. Pass HR198 to repeal PL 107-40 while we still can.

Action Step 3 of 16: Call, fax, email AND tweet (with hashtag #RepealAUMF) both of your United States Senators and demand that they either (a) sponsor a companion bill for H.R. 198, (b) co-sponsor such a bill if another Senator sponsors one first, or (c) acknowledge that their failure to act will cost them your contributions and your vote.

Slide 4 of 16: Why repeal #AUMF? “We were told we were fighting terrorists. The real terrorist was me… The real enemy is here. Poor people in this country are sent to kill poor people in another country, to make the rich richer.” @MikePrysner

Action Step 4 of 16: Call, fax, email AND tweet (with hashtag #RepealAUMF) your United States Representative in Congress and demand that they either (a) co-sponsor H.R. 198 or (b) acknowledge that their failure to act will cost them your contributions and your vote.

Slide 5 of 16: Repeal the Military Force Law NOW: Pass H.R.198 to take war powers out of the hands of corporate puppet politicians in the White House, and restore them to the corporate puppet politicians in Congress. At least that way the power is divided.

Action Step 5 of 16: Call, fax, email AND tweet (with hashtag #RepealAUMF) every member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and demand that they either (a) openly and aggressively support H.R. 198 or (b) acknowledge that you will openly and aggressively support their opponent in the next election – even if you are a member of their party, and even if you don’t live in their district.

Slide 6 of 16: We must pass H.R.198 to repeal the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) now and end the unconstitutional, unjustifiable and unsustainable perpetual Global War on Terrorism (GWOT).

Action Step 6 of 16: If you are a member of the Democratic Party or any of their political front organizations, contact them in the most effective way you know and demand that they openly and aggressively support the passage of H.R. 198 and its Senate companion bill with current wording intact. Follow up to make sure they do, and assure them they will no longer receive your donations or support if they don’t.

Slide 7 of 16: Repeal AUMF Now! The only “Mission Accomplished” by 11+ years of illegal aggression has been to make the war criminals that control our Military Industrial Complex rich by slaughtering the sons and daughters of the poor.

Action Step 7 of 16: If you are a member of the Republican Party or any of their political front organizations, contact them in the most effective way you know and demand that they openly and aggressively support the passage of H.R. 198 and its Senate companion bill with current wording intact. Follow up to make sure they do, and assure them that they will no longer receive your donations or support if they don’t.

Slide 8 of 16: If you really want to STOP THE MACHINE then demand ALL Senators and Representatives pass H.R. 198, The Repeal of the Authorization for Use of Military Force, which is the sole legal justification for endless wars and drone strikes.

Action Step 8 of 16: If you are a member of any so-called “third party” (Green Party, Libertarian Party, Tea Party, etc.), contact them in the most effective way you know and demand that they openly and aggressively support the passage of H.R. 198 and its Senate companion bill with current wording intact. Follow up to make sure they do, and assure them that they will no longer receive your donations or support if they don’t.

Slide 9 of 16: The political spectrum is not the false continuum used to keep the People fighting each other rather than their oppressors. It is instead a circle, and at a point Far Left meets Far Right. There we must unite to #RepealAUMF now!

Action Step 9 of 16: Regardless of your political party affiliation or refusal thereof, try to “reach across the aisle” and build the broadest possible base of support to pass H.R. 198 intact and repeal AUMF. The only way we will stop the machine here is to unite as Americans and ignore – for the time being at least – the Democrat/Liberal/Left and Republican/Conservative/Right “labels” the establishment uses to keep us divided fighting each other rather than united attacking them.

Slide 10 of 16: Martin Luther King Jr. shared his dream with us. Barack Hussein Obama II wants to fire drones at us. We say MLK was OK, but Obama’s drones need to go away. Repeal AUMF and let’s put Obama and his drones in their place.

Action Step 10 of 16: Identify at least the top 3 television stations, radio stations and newspapers in your area, then make a list of at least the top 10 major advertisers in each. Do so and you will have a total of at least 9 media organizations and 90 advertisers. Contact each of them by telephone, fax, email AND Twitter to let them know that if (a) the media organizations do not give fair and balanced coverage to the issues surrounding AUMF and the efforts to repeal it, then (b) you will boycott their advertisers by refusing to buy their products or services.

Slide 11 of 16: The only positive outcome of the post 9/11 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) has been the display of courage in defying it shown by heroes like Bradley Manning and Julian Assange.

Action Step 11 of 16: Follow @RepealAUMFNow on Twitter. Check in with us at least once a day for #RepealAUMF updates and to make sure we haven’t been unjustifiably suspended again. If you see that we have been suspended, call (415-222-9670) and fax (415-222-0922) Twitter demanding that the suspension be lifted. Ask all those who follow you to do the same thing. These guidelines, by the way, are not reliable:

Slide 12 of 16: Until now all the ACLU has done with AUMF, NDAA, the Patriot Act, Citizens United and other clear instances of Creeping Fascism is post online petitions that they use to build donor databases. DEMAND the ACLU do more!

Action Step 12 of 16: Congresswoman Barbara Lee asks that you sign her online petition as a “citizen cosigner” for H.R. 198 here:

Many consider signing online petitions to be nothing more than an impotent exercise in feel-good internet slacktivism, but there have been exceptions to the rule and we can hope this will be one.

Slide 13 of 16: We cannot actually “Repeal The War On Terror” and undo the damage we have done overseas, to ourselves and to our souls, but we can pass H.R. 198 to Repeal the Authorization for Use of Military Force and end the waste and slaughter.

Action Step 13 of 16: RootsAction.org also has an online petition in support of H.R. 198 called ‘Repeal the “War on Terror.”‘ The same caveats mentioned in Step 12 apply, but please sign it anyway:

Once our campaign reaches critical mass, you can expect the ACLU and other groups to be pitching similar petitions. If you sign one and they turn around and hit you up for donations, insist on first knowing specifically what they plan to do with your money.

Slide 14 of 16: If the post 9/11 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF 2001) did not exist, Chris Hedges would not need to battle Obama in court over the NDAA 2012 provisions for Indefinite Detention of Americans without charge or trial.

Action Step 14 of 16: If you are a parent or grandparent, think about your children or grandchildren and what the consequences will be for them if we do not pass H.R. 198 and repeal AUMF. Put down your keyboard, turn off your TV, rise up from your easy chair and get involved. If you can’t lead, then follow. Either way, be willing to make a sacrifice now – a serious and personal sacrifice, if necessary – to make sure your grandkids don’t spit on your grave later.

Slide 15 of 16: Repeal AUMF now and remove the legal foundation for an “Imperial Presidency” under which Barack Obama claims the executive power to authorize domestic drone strikes targeting American citizens on American soil.

Action Step 15 of 16: The real power is in the streets. If you are a member of the Occupy Movement or any other political activists group, make the repeal of the 2001 Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF 2001) the focus of your direct action. Support those who are openly seeking the passage of H.R. 198 and its Senate companion, and engage those who are not. Defy measures intended to censor protest, and employ guerrilla activism to maximize media coverage. Remember that what the Sheeple don’t see never happened.

Slide 16 of 16: Repeal AUMF Now! America cannot be the “Land of the Free” so long as our goverment can detain us without cause, imprison us without trial and kill us without due process. DEMAND your Senators and Representatives support H.R. 198.

Action Step 16 of 16: If you have a website, blog, forum or Facebook page, repost this content and tweet links to your postings. Share this with all of your social networking contacts on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Plus and elsewhere. Make a video testimonial then post and promote it on YouTube, Vimeo or wherever else you can post videos, then share links to your videos on social media. Email this to all of your contacts and ask them to do the same thing!

To My Fellow Riders and All Freedom Fighters:

History repeats itself. And if you understand the timeline above, then you understand what the next step in the timeline must be, unless somehow the timeline can be reversed.

This is the most important bill before the U.S. Congress today:

H.R. 198: Repeal of the Authorization for Use of Military Force

The text of H.R.198 is short and self-explanatory:

This Act may be cited as the ‘Repeal of the Authorization for Use of Military Force’.

Congress finds that the Authorization for Use of Military Force (Public Law 107-40; 50 U.S.C. 1541 note), signed into law on September 18, 2001, has been used to justify a broad and open-ended authorization for the use of military force and such an interpretation is inconsistent with the authority of Congress to declare war and make all laws for executing powers vested by the Constitution in the Government of the United States.

Effective 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Authorization for Use of Military Force (Public Law 107-40; 50 U.S.C. 1541 note) is hereby repealed.

This is the most important bill before Congress because it would go a long way towards reversing the creeping fascism that has defined the politics and controlled the government of post-Eisenhower America.

Most American citizens have never heard of “HR198” and what few have often confuse it with unrelated but like-numbered bills from previous Congressional sessions. Like opposition to the indefinite detention provisions of NDAA 2012, our corporate-controlled mainstream media is likely to give little if any coverage to HR 198 and its opposition to the carte blanche executive authority to take out anyone anywhere granted by AUMF. Even alternative media is thus far limited to this single and painfully frank assessment by Norman Solomon:

AUMF is a serious issue, folks, unlike the staged partisan propaganda spewing out of Washington and force-fed to you by the talking heads on your television. AUMF was passed in 2001 with bipartisan support that included the vote of every Democrat and Republican then in Congress except one – Barbara Lee, the current sponsor of HR198 – and it will take a united, non-partisan coalition to undo what the fascist puppet “Demopublicans” have done.

For those of you who believe democracy still exists in these United States, a groundswell of grassroots activism leading to the passage and signing of “H.R. 198: Repeal of the Authorization for Use of Military Force” with its wording intact may very well be your last chance to prove it. Fail to do so, and you can rest assured that history WILL repeat itself.

Repeal AUMF: H.R. 198 Repeal of the Authorization for Use of Military Force

NDAA 2012 Update: Odrona Demands Dismissal Of Section 1021 Injunction

Odrona The Indefinite Detainer NDAA

Corporate puppet and wannabe fascist dictator Barack Obama aka Bushbama aka Bushbamney wants to keep the power to make you disappear asserted in AUMF 2001.

“Dissent without civil disobedience is consent.”-Henry David Thoreau

In the case of Christopher Hedges et al v. Barack Obama et al (Case 1:12-cv-00331-KBF) the fascist regime of corporate puppet president Barack Bushbamney Odrona just filed its brief in opposition to a permanent injunction against the indefinite detention of American citizens without charge or trial provisions of Section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act of Fiscal Year 2012 (NDAA 2012|Public Law 112–81), which passed both houses of Congress with broad bipartisan – as in both Democratic and Republican – support before being signed into law by Obama last New Year’s Eve while you were out celebrating and he was in Hawaii and a safe distance away from the protest you never made. Their Preliminary Statement reads as follows:

Defendants Barack Obama,Leon Panetta, and the Department of Defense (collectively, the “government”) respectfully submit this memorandum in opposition to plaintiffs’ request for a permanent injunction against the operation of a portion of section 1021 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012, Pub. L. 112-81, 125 Stat. 1298 (Dec. 31, 2011) (the “NDAA”), and in support of the government’s request that the Court enter final judgment in its favor.

Plaintiffs present a truly extraordinary claim in this action. They seek to enjoin the operation of a statute enacted by Congress and signed into law by the President, a statute that codifies a longstanding Executive military-detention authority that has been upheld by the courts, and therefore enjoys the endorsement of all three branches of the government. While that alone would be an ambitious endeavor, plaintiffs reach even further, and claim that they, as journalists and activists, may obtain an injunction to invalidate the statute on its face, to apply worldwide, and, most unusually, to prohibit certain uses of the military detention authority exercised by the United States and the Commander-in-Chief during an ongoing armed conflict. Any one of those facts should cause extreme hesitation by the Court; taken together, they require the most exacting scrutiny to ensure that if the judicial power is to be exercised in such a far-reaching manner it is clearly within the Court’s jurisdiction to do so. Yet plaintiffs cannot come close to establishing that jurisdiction, as they cannot carry their burden of demonstrating even the basic elements of standing. They claim they fear military detention, based on an erroneous interpretation of the statute that would extend its scope in direct contradiction of the statute’s words, and with no regard for the context that gives it meaning. They persist in asserting that interpretation even though it is contravened by over a decade of history; they cannot point to a single example of the military’s detaining anyone for engaging in conduct even remotely similar to the type of expressive activities they allege could lead to detention. And they continue to seek unprecedented injunctive relief despite already obtaining assurance from the government in this case that based on their allegations they are not detainable under this statute. Plaintiffs therefore have fallen far short of meeting their burden to show they have been injured by the statute; their complaints are the types of generalized grievances of allegedly unlawful government conduct that have been repeatedly held insufficient to support standing.

Even if plaintiffs had some cognizable injuries, those harms would not be redressed by an injunction against section 1021; as plaintiffs themselves acknowledge, such an injunction would have “nil” effect, for the government would continue to possess the identical detention authority under the 2001 Authorization for the Use of Military Force. Plaintiffs thus would achieve no meaningful relief from the injunction they seek, and lack standing for that reason as well. Because plaintiffs lack standing, this Court need not (and must not) unnecessarily decide the constitutional questions plaintiffs present.

If it were necessary to reach the merits, plaintiffs’ claims would fail. Their facial and overbreadth challenges, if even appropriate in this context, founder on the indisputable fact that section 1021 has a plainly legitimate sweep that dwarfs the purported infringement on free expression; indeed, the statute is not even aimed at speech or expressive conduct. Nor is the statute unconstitutionally vague: it does not prohibit any conduct and therefore is not even subject to vagueness analysis. Even if it were it would still be valid, as its meaning as informed by context is more than clear enough to meet constitutional standards. All of plaintiffs’ claims on the merits fail, but in particular none of their theories can come close to justifying the invalidation of the non-punitive war-time authority that Congress affirmed in section 1021.

For all those reasons, the Court should enter judgment for the government.

Heads up for Twitter users…

Apparently tweeting the truth about greedy corporations or corrupt politicians is all it takes to get yourself censored on Twitter. World War Web Advisory #6: NSA Big Brother Utah Data Center To Achieve “Total Information Awareness” By September 2013

World War Web Advisory #6: NSA Big Brother Utah Data Center To Achieve "Total Information Awareness" By September 2013

While Americans focus on Kim, Kony, Clooney and the slave-produced iPad 3, the totalitarian takeover that assures their own subjugation draws near – and only 29 years later than Orwell predicted.

Too bad more hacktivists don’t follow @VVVPR on Twitter. If they did, Anonymous might have seen this warning in time to mitigate the impact of their infiltration and betrayal by LulzSec’s Sabu a.k.a. FBI informant Hector Xavier Monsegur:

“How do we tell the true #Anonymous (good guys) from the #CIA #DHS #FBI #NSA etc false flaggers (#fascists)? 9:12 PM – 20 Feb 12”

They would also have been apprised of a nemesis on the horizon that – if allowed to grow unchecked – could leave the merry band of high-minded hackers with future prospects comparable to those of the Polish Cavalry in 1938:

“With new #NSA data center, #BigBrother will achieve “total information awareness” by September 2013: bit.ly/zkZcJl #Anonymous #OWS Retweeted by VVV PR 6:04 AM – 18 Mar 12″

The NSA simply calls it their “Utah Data Center”:

“Under construction by contractors with top-secret clearances, the blandly named Utah Data Center [UDC] is being built for the National Security Agency. A project of immense secrecy, it is the final piece in a complex puzzle assembled over the past decade. Its purpose: to intercept, decipher, analyze, and store vast swaths of the world’s communications as they zap down from satellites and zip through the underground and undersea cables of international, foreign, and domestic networks. The heavily fortified $2 billion center should be up and running in September 2013. Flowing through its servers and routers and stored in near-bottomless databases will be all forms of communication, including the complete contents of private emails, cell phone calls, and Google searches, as well as all sorts of personal data trail – parking receipts, travel itineraries, bookstore purchases, and other digital ‘pocket litter.’ It is, in some measure, the realization of the “total information awareness” program created during the first term of the Bush administration…”

The demise of Anonymous is not the sole purpose of the NSA UDC any more than the Occupy Movement was the sole target of HR 347, the bill corporate fascist puppet president Barack Obama recently signed into law (Public Law 112-98) that in certain key circumstances makes peaceful protest a felony. According to one of Wired.com’s unnamed NSA officials, “Everybody’s a target; everybody with communication is a target … not only governments around the world but also many average computer users in the US.”

Average American computer users, of course, are either clueless or could care less. They’re far too busy “talking about” Kim Kardashian’s Fakebook page … “liking” Kony 2012 – a credibility-challenged but viral YouTube video about the sad plight of some children from Uganda, a country most of them could not find on a map … “retweeting” kudos to actor George Clooney for his recent celebrity stand against injustice in Sudan – as if that was somehow more crucial than injustices in their own country like the Patriot Act, AUMF 2001, Citizens United, NDAA 2012, HR 658 and HR 347 … or queuing to buy the new Apple iPad 3, the latest in a long line of “iPlanned Obsolescence” products built by slave labor and bought by brainwashed zombies.

There’s not much to hope for in all this. But to close on a positive note, many of the Polish Cavalry’s charges into the invading Nazi lines were successful, and the fascists were defeated in the end.
